from the archives...

Archaeologists were recently able to piece together the remains of a University News publication, circa 2004, and happened upon this startling discovery.

Yikes.

bonus!

It's the last day of March, I gotta get in as many posts as I can!

march madness

My first, and probably last, foray into political cartooning...though Obama's face is surprisingly fun to draw.

Worked with a brush for the smoke and shrubbery. Which, incidentally, is the title of my new book. "Smoke and Shrubbery: The College Years".

Just kidding.

back in black

It's a struggle going over all this old stuff, but I'm learning a lot on how to balance the black and white.

new page

This only took about 4 days to do. Geez. Mental block or something. Dinosaurs are supposed to be fun to draw.

page 50! celebrations are in order.

The page count has gone out the window by now, as I think this is for an entirely new book. Oh well. Here's to portfolio building!

progress....i think

Haven't been inking much lately as there aren't enough hours in the day. I'm learning to be more patient with it, too, and I think it's paying off. This panel makes me laugh.

CREW: 47?

I lost count. I also am thinking about changing the name, as I've basically started a new story at this point, which is fine because I'm tired of zombies...and if I'm tired of zombies, then I'm pretty sure everyone else is sick to death of zombies. I also changed my format a bit. I now draw the whole thing portrait-wise on one sheet of paper, as opposed to two separate sheets and photoshopping them together later. That way I can get a better feel for the page as a whole, and it also condenses my workload a bit by forcing me to crank out a full page a day.

CREW: 45

My first work from my new drafting table! And by "new" I mean I snagged it before someone just threw it away. So...new to me.

CREW 44: more bristol board abuse.

More experimentation. I kinda like the comic art combined with the more realistic illustration. Now if I could only learn to draw properly.

He appears to be having trouble with that last measure of the "Cowboys From Hell" solo. Keep practicing, little guy, your Bluegrass Banjo Tribute to the Gods of Metal is coming along nicely.
